- PANSA negotiated better remuneration and royalties for the musicians involved in recording the score for the South African production of CATS.
- PANSA has proposed a remuneration grid for actors as a basis for arriving at fair salaries in the performing arts sector.
Lobbying
- PANSA organised a petition, wrote letters to the Dept of Arts and Culture (DAC), made submissions to the Portfolio Committee in parliament, engaged the Public Protector and wrote an open letter to the Minister that successfully resulted in the release of funding for performing arts companies without onerous conditions being enforced
- PANSA undertook an in-depth analysis of the DAC’s 2002/3 budget for the parliamentary portfolio committee that showed the steady decline in arts funding. Funding improved slightly in 2003/4.
- PANSA has successfully nominated individuals to serve in strategic decision-making positions in the arts.
- PANSA coordinated an Open Letter to the Minister of Arts and Culture decrying the undermining of democracy in the arts that was signed by many high profile artists.
- PANSA cooperated with NACSA in gathering signatures for a petition to the Minister re the NAC debacle in November 2003 and also made a submission on the matter to the portfolio committee in Parliament.
- PANSA presented a submission to the Portfolio Committee on Arts and Culture in Parliament on 9 June 2004, where we detailed the problems with accessing funding from agencies.
- PANSA lobbied for the dissolution of the NAC Board and for better governance structures to be put in place.
- At national, provincial and local levels, PANSA is engaged in ongoing strategies to influence policy in favour of the arts generally and the performing arts in particular.
Skills training
- PANSA regions have offered regular workshops for its members in areas such as how to complete an application form for the NAC, preparing budgets for the private sector, devising marketing and publicity plans, negotiating contracts and copyright, and most recently a successful one on fundraising and grant proposals in three provinces.
- PANSA representatives serve on various Standards Generating Bodies (SGBs) and CREATE SA structures in order to influence training strategies for the sector.

- PANSA distributes a monthly newsletter to keep members informed of funding, policy and other developments, professional opportunities and for members to share information with others.
