This is an invite to your members who might be interested in the Poetry Africa discussion on the 27th of September at the Planetarium at 5:30pm.The title of the discussion is 'The Poet As Wayfarer'.
This will be a follow up to the showcase on the 26th at the CTICC.

Poetry Africa On Tour is an outreach of the Poetry Africa Festival, organised by the Centre for Creative Arts(University of KwaZulu-Natal), now in its 14th year and established as one of the leading events of its kind in Africa .Poetry  Africa On Tour is an effort to spread poetry to ever-wider constitutencies and stimulate meaningful cultural exchanges between artists, audiences nad countries. Outside of its annual festival in the Durban district, previous Poetry Africa events have been presented in Nairobi, Maputo, Nelspruit, Kei RIver and various Johannesburg locations. Comprising  a credible representation of poetic and musical voices, the project  will involve workshops, creative engagements and events in Cape Town, Zimbabwe , Malawi before culminating at the Poetry Africa Festival in Durban.

The vision is to :

-facilitate intercultural exchange and dialogue between cultural communities of countries in the SADC region-this includes engagements between artists, intellectuals, youth, cultural organisations, tertiary institutions and through media  presence.

-develop partnerships and skills exchange with cultural organisations in the respective territories, work closely with them to raise interest in poetry and the development of activity programmes.

-build social awareness using the arts.
