CAPE TOWN OPERA JOB POSTING: FUNDRAISER

Cape Town Opera is looking for a FUNDRAISER to oversee the following portfolios:
Public Sector Funding: National Lotteries, National Arts Council, Dept. of Arts and Culture, City of Cape Town, etc
Corporate Funding: Donated funding as part of social investment initiatives and/or marketing sponsorships
International Cultural Exchange: Funding received as part of cultural exchange programmes or grant opportunities
Trusts and Foundations: Donated income received from all national and international trusts and foundations
The FUNDRAISER position entails maintaining and developing the existing relationship with funders through applications, reporting and ongoing communication, all the while ensuring the proper implementation of grant requirements. The FUNDRAISER will also be responsible for ongoing research into new funding sources and for securing new funders for CTO locally, nationally and internationally in the above portfolios. Emphasis is placed on developing mutually-beneficial relationships between CTO and its funders. Occasional travel within South Africa is required. The FUNDRAISER will also be involved in organizing special events, such as opening night functions, concerts and receptions, etc.

Applicant requirements include:
• Previous fundraising experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive, motivated and enthusiastic attitude
• An excellent command of verbal and written English and attention to detail
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Candidate must be professional and presentable
• Proficient in general computer software programmes (Word, Excel, etc)
• A love of and/or interest in opera and the performing arts
           
The successful applicant will report to CTO’s Business Development Manager. The position is full-time, salaried (non-commissionable) and will be based at CTO’s offices at Artscape, Cape Town. Applicants must be legal to work in South Africa. Application deadline 30 July 2010.
