FNB Dance Umbrella

The FNB Dance Umbrella is the definitive, annual platform for South African contemporary dance at which new choreographic creations are presented.
It is an open platform, which includes performances of youth and community groups, the efforts of young choreographers and commissioned works from professional practitioners. Foreign dance companies also show work, often with assistance from their respective diplomatic missions.

Joy of Jazz Festival
|
The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz - one of the biggest jazz festivals on South Africa's musical calendar - has a truly international line-up that incorporates all jazz styles - from Afro jazz and fusion to Latin rhythms, bebop and straight-ahead.
Artists from America, Japan, Norway, Spain, Israel, Germany and Holland are joined by top performers from South Africa and Nigeria in a diverse and eclectic line-up with a strong emphasis on jazz.

Musho

The 2007 musho festival will be staged in Durban from 10 to 21 January. This exciting festival focuses on the intimate genre of one and two-person plays.

OppiKoppi
|
OppiKoppi almost tripped over itself in the small bar in the middle of the South African bushveld where it started as an unassuming but hedonistic rock and roll getogether. From there, the company has expanded to initially host its own festival by the same name, and thereafter spilled out over the live music network of Southern Africa.

Spier Arts Festival
|
The first summer arts season was presented at Spier in 1996. Its founder, former MP and businessman, Dick Enthoven wrote: "South Africa in general and the Western Cape in particular is almost obscenely blessed with a huge reservoir of enviable talent, but there has been so little opportunity for it to develop and mature. Let us hope the Winelands of the Cape will provide fruitful soil not only for our glorious wines, but also for a Summer Performing Arts Festival that, in the not too distant future, will be internationally recognised as important."

Soweto Arts Festival

The Soweto Arts Festival's goal is to create a sense of belonging to Soweto. The Festival is by the people of Soweto for Soweto.
Its program includes music, film, theatre, craft and lectures, giving a stage to talented Sowetans, as well as displaying artists from around South Africa and the world.

Sibikwa Theatre's Storytelling Festival

Storytellers from all over the country are joined by performers from SADEC countries in a celebration of tales across time and national borders.
Open mic sessions include members of the public who have the opportunity to tell their own stories.

Voorkamerfest
|
The Voorkamerfest is a one-of- a- kind festival that carries an element of excitement for the audience in that the venues and performers remain a surprise until everyone arrives at the various destinations on their particular route. Each of the six routes has three voorkamer stops, with a 25-minute performance in every front room of homes that range from small township houses to grand Victorian dwellings. Everyone meets at Evita se Perron half an hour beforehand and transportation is via local taxis.

Urban Voices International Festival

Urban Voices International Poetry Festival features icons of international poetry. Also featured are several emerging and established poets from across the country. Perfomances take place across South Africa.

When Life Happens: HIV / AIDS Arts & Culture Festival

The term ‘When life Happens’, specifically with regards to HIV and AIDS, takes away the stigma, negativity and fear that cloud the disease, demystifying it into something that does happen, has happened and can happen, to thousands of people around us.
