SATURDAY 27 Feb – URBAN PLAYERS

PARTICIPATION: Teams up to 10 people
 
SUBMISSION: Send an email with the names of the participants/team and contact details to live@pansa.org.za with URBAN in the subject line before Friday 26 Feb
Submit your movie file to YouTube (video) by 19:00
   
VOTING: Online through pansa.org.za
  Closes at 00:00 Sunday
   
REQUIREMENTS: a computer with an internet connection
  a video capturing device
   
TASK: On Saturday morning you will get a message with up to 3 pieces of text or scenes from some well known plays. With your team, find the most interesting spot in Cape Town, present your scene and record it. When presenting your scene, you are allowed creative control with it – so if you want to adapt some Shakespeare scene to contemporary dance in the middle of St. George’s Mall…go ahead!
   
LOGISTICS:  
  1. You must send an email with your name (team name), list of participants, and contact details to live@pansa.org.za with URBAN in the subject line before Friday 26 Feb to confirm your participation.
  2. To submit video files you must upload them to You Tube before 19:00 on Saturday 27 Feb and send an email with your team name and link to the file to live@panssa.org.za with the subject URBAN.
   
ON DAY:  Try to find the most interesting location for your piece of text, perform it out, and record it on your camera or phone.
   
VIEWING:  PANSA will embed each submission onto the PANSA website. The online audience will be allowed to vote for their favourite site-specific piece.
   
 NEXT STEP: The winning performance piece (after online voting has closed, at midnight, and all votes have been counted)
will be put forward for THE FINAL BYTE session on Sunday (R10 000 Grand Prize).
The curator of the festival will contact to liaise with you.
   
GENERAL NOTES:
  • All rights to the material generated from CT Live! will rest with the artists.
    The artists will give PANSA the rights to perform the work and will give PANSA and
    the Department of Economic Development and Tourism the right to hold the material
    for archival purposes and use the material for promotional purposes
  • To enter the competition for R10,000 - at least half of the team members must be residents of the Western Cape..
  • All email correspondence and inquiries to be directed to live@pansa.org.za with URBAN in the subject line.
  • Participants can:
    • submit multiple entries for the day
    • submit entries for other days of the festival
    • take part in the OFFLINE/OFFLINE/LIVE section of the festival
